Auditors should proactively raise expectations by requiring

  • Formal AI governance aligned to enterprise risk
  • Documented controls over AI usage and decision-making
  • Evidence of monitoring, review, and accountability
  • Clear ownership of AI-related risks

These demands closely resemble early SOX requirements before standards fully matured.
